I recently had the opportunity to do some food photography for The Oven, a wood-fired pizza truck based in Fife, Scotland. You might be thinking – wood-fired pizza? In Scotland?

You read that right, friend. The Oven has its wood fired pizza oven right inside its sleek airstream vehicle. They not only make delicious Neapolitan-style pizza, but also pasta, flavoured chips and Wicked Cheesecake.

The Oven was started by Dillon McEwan, his mum Angela and friend Marc Wheelin. Amidst a year waiting planning permissions, electricity challenges, and many pizza tasting nights, they sold out on their opening weekend!

The brief

I was asked to do some food and lifestyle photography during their soft launch for their social media channels.

The photoshoot

It was a beautiful sunny day the day of the photoshoot which meant a great opportunity to get a variety of shots both inside and outside.

The open fire pizza oven fit snugly inside the airstream. It not only kept everyone toasty but also filled the space aroma of freshly baked pizza.

What makes their pizza different? Their dough is prepared with a tried and tested method and takes 48-hours to make, and all their ingredients are sourced directly from Italy to give the most authentic Neapolitan experience.

In addition to pizza, The Oven also offer classic pasta dishes, dirty fries and desserts. I had a chance to try some of their dishes and have to say their flavoured fries are addictive!

Their desserts are sourced from Wicked Cheesecake, who have a variety of inventive and indulgent cheesecake flavours. Raspberry white chocolate meringue cheesecake anyone?

Getting to shoot for local food producers is my jam, and so naturally it was an honour to do this photoshoot for The Oven.
